Heūng góng in Cantonese means fragrant harbour, but to most people is known as Hong Kong. Situated on the South China Sea and Pearl River Delta , Hong Kong is famous for its glittering skyline and magnificent natural harbour. The city itself is bustling and quite crowded, but offers delicious foods, an exciting night life, and of course, shopping.

Hong Kong is officially known as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. It is the first Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, the other being Macau. Before the transfer of sovereignty over to China in 1997, Hong Kong had been a British Colony for nearly 150 years. However, Archaeological findings date the first human settlements in Hong Kong to more than 30,000 years ago. It was first incorporated into China during the Qin Dynasty and largely remained under Chinese rule until 1841 during the Qing Dynasty.

The New Territories are often ignored by tourists, but it offers a diverse landscape with lovely mountainous parks. The Outlying Islands the islands, islets and rocks in the south of the territory. Most people arrive here at Hong Kong International Airport.Here tourists can find Disneyland and the Ngong Ping cable car.
