At the time that this article was published, three airlines currently operate A380 flights to and from Australia, with code-sharing options for your connecting A380 flights to all other parts of the world. For your convenience, we have provided below details of these A380 services on QANTAS, Emirates. China Southern (considering all Australia-Europe options at the time of writing), Thai Airways (expecting to launch their Sydney-Bangkok service in late 2013).
ABOUT THE AIRLINE – With 92 years of flying, QANTAS is an award-winning First and Premium Economy travel provider (Best First Class and Best International Premium Economy Class, 2012 Australian Business Traveller Awards) and literally wrote the book on Business class, having invented the concept in 1979. The airline has 20 super-jumbo A380s either in service or on order, which can be enjoyed en route to and from Sydney and Melbourne to both Los Angeles and London Heathrow via Singapore.
WORTHY TO NOTE – Emirates and QANTAS will be partnering in April 2012 to provide a greater range of flight and route options for Australian travelers. The QANTAS A380 is promoted as the “most efficient and environmentally friendly” plane in the sky, burning 17% less fuel/seat and approx 60% less carbon dioxide than an average motorcar per passenger kilometer. What does this mean for you? A quieter, cleaner ride to enjoy from the runway to touch down!
ABOUT THE AIRLINE – Emirates boasts the largest collection of A380s in the world, intending to have no less than 90 of these super-jumbo Airbuses flying to every international destination via its mega-hub in Dubai. For a full-service airline with exceptional international standard of Business class, the Emirates A380 flies from Dubai to Sydney and on to Auckland daily. Other Australian flights operated by Emirates connect to Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney are conducted on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. However, at the time of writing, Emirates is waiting only on the completion of compliant construction at the Perth City Airport to introduce their favourite A380 option for WA travelers.
WORTHY TO NOTE – Emirates’ mega-hub in Dubai provides A380 connections for Australian passengers to Europe and the UK via London Heathrow, Manchester, Paris and Jeddah, as well as the vast Asian continent, touching down in Bangkok, Seoul, Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai. For those long-haul travelers going to and from Down Under to the Wild West, A380 connections can even be made to Toronto and New York City.
